what does the australian scholarship program offer?
The Australian Scholarship Program offers a number of scholarships to provide educational, research and professional development opportunities to assist growth in the Asia-Pacific region and to establish strong links to individuals, organisations, institutions, partner governments and countries. The Program offers two streams of scholarships:
- Those offered to specific countries through the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS). This is the main program offered to assist in strengthening the human resource capacity development of Mongolia.
- Those offered on a competitive and merit basis throughout the Asia-Pacific region through the Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) and Endeavour Awards.
The ADS scholarships are managed within Mongolia through the Mongolia Australian Scholarships Program and the office of the Mongolia Australian Scholarships Program (MASP) which provides administrative assistance and advice to institutions and individuals to fully utilise the capacity of the scholarships.
ADS scholarships available
Two categories of ADS scholarships are available:

Annually selected targeted public sector institutions in which the ministries determine the fields of study based on their Human Resource Plans of governance reform and with the ministries involved in the selection of applicants

Category 2: |
Annually selected fields of study open to employees in Mongolian government agencies, Mongolian private firms, NGO’s and universities. Panels will select the successful applicants

Total Australian development assistance to Mongolia in 2008 to 2009 is estimated to be AUD5.2 million of which AUD3.0 million will be administered through the bilateral program. Under the Mongolia Australian Scholarships Program (2008 to 2013) the ADS will increase from 14 scholarships per year to 28 by 2010.
Other Scholarships may also be useful to Ministries and organisations to development their capacity.
ALA and Endeavour awards
The ALA and Endeavour Awards are facilitated through Mongolia Australian Scholarships Program and are managed by the Australian Government and DEEWR.
